House Committee Moves Forward Gun Legislations

May 3, 2010

SPRINGFIELD –  Lawmakers may be planning to leave Springfield at the end of the week.  But they're also looking to get a lot done before then.

And it looks like gun control legislation may be on that 'to-do' list.

Chicago Democrat Harry Osterman says the state needs gun reform this year. He says his plans are "common sense" and should be passed.

But Todd Vandermyde with the National Rifle Association says last minute gun laws will only make things harder for lawful gun owners in Illinois.

The legislation cleared a House committee on Monday.  Its next step is to the House floor for a full vote. The vote is expected to happen later this week.
