SPRINGFIELD  –  Illinois Senate Democrats and Republicans are geared for a fundraising sprint in the days ahead.

Both parties are pouring in hundreds of thousands of dollars to candidates who face electoral battles.

Richard Winkel with the University of Illinois says political parties will donate to the candidates they think have the best chance of winning.

Senate Democrats are contributing hundreds-of-thousands of dollars to incumbents who face electoral challenges.

One of those incumbents is Western Illinois state senator Deanna Demuzio, who has received almost half-a-million-dollars in cash in the last two weeks.

David Morrison with the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform says political parties will sometimes wait until just before the election to contribute.

Winkel expects the ample fundraising to continue in the days leading up to the election on November 2nd.
